Low cost airline cancels flights to Budapest

EasyJet blamed cancellations on a lack of trained staff.
A budget airline is cancelling 29 flights from Newcastle this month because of a lack of trained staff. EasyJet said it cannot get its cabin crew security checked quickly enough to fill posts.

Routes affected throughout August include those to Nice, Rome and Berlin - about 3% of the firm's local flights.

EasyJet said customers will get 14 days notice if their flight is cancelled and their money back if an alternative flight cannot be found.

Keith Betton, of the Association of British Travel Agents, said the airline had been a victim of its own success. He said: "The airline basically expanded really quite quickly and it just hasn't had enough time to get enough pilots and staff - this is understandable.

"But it is a problem for customers who may have bought their flight and accommodation independently."
